Egbado North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency has been represented by various members at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja with all of them having degrees of their modest achievements at each turn of electoral cycle and representation.
During the build up to 2015 elections in Ogun State, there was an Ayetoro born former classroom teacher and labour leader from Lagos State that has decided to come home and join the turbulent political atmosphere of his State to throw his hat into the contest for a seat at the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja under the political platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hon. Olaifa Jimoh Aremu popularly addressed as OJA by his admirers quickly got attracted to the established political players of the constituency and became the toast of all. Time came for the party primaries and he emerged victorious among other contestants including the then incumbent member of the Federal House of Reps., with congratulatory messages coming from the party executive heads and he was invited to come down to the State Secretariat of the party for his certificate of returns but before covering the short distance of Ayetoro to Abeokuta, a counter instruction had landed on the table of the Party Executive heads from the then “alpha and omega” of the party in the State and Olaifa was denied the ticket! This is today an history as what became of the party in the final election for that office is already a public knowledge.
Hon. Olaifa Jimoh Aremu (OJA) quickly put the 2015 disappointment behind him, oiled his political machinery and braced himself up for 2019 contest to actualize his ambition of representing Egbado North/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency in Abuja. Under the political platform of African Democratic Congress (ADC), he eventually won the election to the green chamber in Abuja.
Immediately he was sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives, Abuja; Hon. Olaifa organised an unprecedented “Thank you Reception” and quickly hit the ground running to perform law making, representation and oversight functions and admirably so, he has been a performer we are all proud of.
His record within a period of just one Legislative session out of four to be spent in his first term is already a watershed with people-oriented projects facilitated for the constituents in the areas of social services, training, and skills acquisitions as well as the Mass Empowerment programme for farmers, artisans, women, youths and students.
