The Ogun State police has confirmed that a 43-year old man identified as Oluwole Bamidele was arrested on Thursday for allegedly raping a six year old girl in Agbado, Ogun State.

The command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who disclosed this maintained that the suspect was arrested, following a complaint by the father of the victim named kechukwu Blessing Orji, to the police.

DSP Oyeyemi noted that the father of the victim told the police that while his wife went out to give clothes to her tailor, the suspect who is a co-tenant in the same house with them, lured his daughter into his room and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her.

On the strength of the report, Oyeyemi disclosed that the DPO of Agbado division, Aloko Amodu detailed his detectives to the scene of the crime at Kayode Street Agoro area of Agbado where the suspect was arrested.

Oyeyemi added that when the suspect was interrogated by the police, he initially denied committing the crime but when the victim was taken to the General hospital for medical examination, the medical report confirmed that the victim had been defiled. It was there he confessed committing the crime”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Bashir Makama has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect to Anti-Human trafficking and child labour unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for proper investigation and prosecution
