The suspects

The new Commissioner of Police in Ogun state, Bashir Dabup Makama has warned criminal minded elements to avoid the state or face the damn consequence.

The Police boss made this known through the state command spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi during the parade of three members of a syndicate allegedly specialized in child stealing, with recovery of three kids from the suspects.

The suspects – Kate Njoku, Joy Okorie, both female, and Onyeka Joseph, reportedly abducted children and sold them outside the state.
The three kids were recovered from Anambra State where they have been enrolled in an elementary school, according to the Command’s Spokesman.
Okorie, a 30 year woman from Imo State, told newsmen that they sold each of the kid in the range of N300,000 and N450,000.
“We sold two boys for N300,000 each. I was caught in my first of engaging in the crime and I regret my action,” she said.
The Police PRO, Oyeyemi had said the suspects’ mode of operation “is to go into different neighborhood where they targeted children and rent an apartment” in an attempt to carryout their heinous act.
The Police Publicist disclosed that the arrest of one Mary Paul, a principal suspect, who is undergoing trail in Ondo State, led to the arrest of three suspects.
“The suspects make friends with unsuspecting parents of the targeted children, gain their trust and sometimes become a child care giver in the absence of the unsuspecting parents.
“In the process, the suspect having appreciable information about their victims will suddenly disappear with the wards of their unsuspecting neighbours without trace,” Oyeyemi said.
Oyeyemi who said the suspect would soon be prosecuted accordingly, urged the residents of the state to be vigilant “and not allow themselves to be preyed on cheaply.”
