A leading governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in the upcoming Ondo state general election, Sen Boluwaji Kunlere has denied speculation milling round town that he has stepped down from the governorship race.

Senator Kunlere who spoke to journalists during the week clarified that his ambition is a divine one, stressing that with the support garnered so far across the three senatorial districts in the state, he remains the candidate to beat both at the party primary and the general election.

As he said, those spreading the malicious rumour are the weak aspirants in the party whose stock in trade are known for causing disaffection among the party faithful. He however added that their antics wont deter him from showcasing his genuine blueprint to the people of Ondo state.

“I’m a man of peace, and I preach peaceful co-existence among our people regardless of party affiliation. I also have a remarkable track records, which has endeared me into the mind of our people. I have no doubt in my mind that my outstanding achievements during my past political engagement will speak for me at the primary level and when is the time to face candidates from other parties”, Sen Kunlere.

Meanwhile, Senator Kunlere few days back continued his tour of other senatorial districts in the state. Places visited include Akoko North West, North East, South West, South East, Ose and Owo local governments respectively.

Speaking to party faithful at the events, Kunlere said the tour was in continuation of his consultation to the grassroots to seek for their support for the party primaries scheduled to take place in few weeks time.

According to him, his decision to contest was borne out of his believe that the state needs an experienced person who knows where the shoes pinches the people. He promised not to let them down if given the opportunity to represent their interests.
