Ayodeji Atanda

One of the leading comedians in the state who is fast carving a niche for himself in the entertainment world recently launched an online tv series called Just TV. He spoke with Ijebu News Xtra crew on the new project and many other sundry issues.  Enjoy


Let’s meet who Mr Deji Atanda is as well as schools you attended till date?

Ayodeji Atanda is a young creative mind born thespian, by the grace of God, I’m an MC, comedian, event planner, entertainment promoter, content provider. I’m an alumnus of Olabisi Onabanjo University, B.A. Performing Arts


Can you let us discuss your childhood?

My childhood? Mmmm, I was born in Abeokuta, to my lovely dad & mum of blessed memory mr & mrs Femi Atanda, a renowned hotelier and hospitality man, native of Ijebu Ode, Ogun state. Growing up was really fun for me, simply because I have always been in the showbiz world, I remember my 10th year birthday when my dad brought a Nollywood actor (Fadeyi Oloro) home to me as a surprise and It really ignited my artistic feeling. My dad was very influential and I guess am taking after his footsteps.


How did you find yourself into the entertainment industry?

Basically I would Say, I was born with it , right from my secondary and primary school days I was in the drama society , and had passion for television , even till now I watch tv a lot which  really ignited my inner dreams , secondly studying theatre arts is a major drive , it opened my imagination to a lot of things and I grateful .


Would you please share with us your best memorable day on stage?

Wow, honestly, I have a lot, but one of the most memorable days I can remember was at the Globacom Lafta Fest 2017 and Goldberg lager beer tour 2018/2019. I was the official MC for southwest grand event alongside the Nollywood stars. It was a huge platform that helped my career. I had too many calls after the show and then when it was aired my fan base increased.



And the other way round, which particular day did you consider the most embarrassing time since your sojourn in the industry?

Oops that was a longtime ago way back 2007 or so, I went for a show and the crowd wasn’t ready for my type of jokes I guess, and I really felt embarrassed because I had to leave the stage after someone threw a pure water at me.


You recently berth with JUST TV what is this all about?

Well just tv is an online tv created by me to explore my passion for TV productions, our contents are general, news, current affairs, sports, entertainment, music and more, basically, we intend to upgrade the online television industry.


Who and who do you see as role models in the entertainment industry?

Most of my role models are internationals: Martin Lawrence, Steve Harvey, but in Nigeria, Basketmouth, and AY are perfect and would love to work with them very soon.


Where do you see yourself in the next few years?

By the grace of God, I would be a bigger and more appreciated for my hard work and contribution to the industry. thanks so much
